The 3rd Separate Assault Brigade (3rd OShBr) is a unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was created on February 24, 2022, on the basis of the territorial defense unit "Azov" in Kyiv, during the Russian aggression. In January 2023, it was transformed into a separate assault brigade of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Previously, the unit was known as SSO "Azov" in Kyiv.

Fighters of the territorial defense unit "Azov" Kyiv took part in the liberation from the occupation of such cities as Vasylkiv, Vorzel, Irpin, Bucha, Gostomel, Pushcha-Vodytsia, Lyutizh, Gorenka, Stoyanka and Moshchuny. In March 2022, fighters together with the 72nd brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine ambushed and defeated a column of the BTGr of the 6th tank regiment of the 90th tank division of the aggressor's army near Brovary and the village of Skybyn.

In March 2022, under the leadership of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense, the brigade conducted a covert operation to break through the blockade of Mariupol by helicopter, delivering reinforcements, weapons and medicine for the wounded and evacuating seriously wounded fighters to the city blocked by Russian forces. The fighters of the brigade also took part in the liberation of Kherson and the Kherson region, as well as in the battles for Bakhmut.

In many military operations, the fighters of the 3rd OShBr used a variety of equipment, including infantry fighting vehicles, tanks, armored personnel carriers, cars and other types of equipment.
